Head football coach Les Miles and offensive coordinator, Gary Crowton have done a great job in the past couple of years involving 'Supa-D' (Holliday’s nickname) in LSU’s offense as well as special teams play. Despite his small stature -5’5”, 160lbs- Holliday, according to teammates, has a big heart, is as tough as nails and seems to bounce off of would-be-tacklers like a Frank Abegnal check at your local Savings and Loan branch.
Coach Crowton has engineered some creative formations to get the ball to Holliday in full sprint and if/when he makes it past the first tackler or rounds the corner it is virtually impossible to catch the man. To add to DC’s headache, the Tigers have some of the fastest skilled players in the country at wide-out, in the back field and really through out the two deep line-up.
To go with Supa-D, the Tigers feature RBs Keiland Williams who runs a 4.4 – 40 yard dash @ 225lbs, and Richard Murphy at 4.5 - 40. WR Brandon Lafell has SEC proven break-away speed, Terrance Tolliver also runs a 4.4 - 40, and incoming phenom Ruben Randall is lightning between the sidelines.
The Tigers are also swift under center with projected starter Jordan Jefferson and Russell Shepard, the most highly anticipated recruit in recent memory. Shepard is listed with 4.4 speed -though he looks to be even faster- and he possesses that special elusiveness of great dual threat quarterbacks.
