German table tennis star Timo Boll has been ranked the world's top player during the course of his lengthy career, but then again, he had never played against a robot before.
Boll, a well-known figure in China, was chosen to take on a table tennis-playing robot from KUKA, and the result was a match for the ages.
If you want to know the result, scroll up now and watch the video.
But suffice it to say, the scenes are reminiscent of Rocky IV, when Sylvester Stallone battles the seemingly robotic Russian Ivan Drago.
Given this video was not shot in front of a baying crowd that was cheering on the robot, there's no basis for Boll to make a final "If I can change..." speech. It may be the only thing that's missing.
Still, even if the humans win this round, the robots are coming, and table tennis is only the start.
