NEW YORK - JULY 14: Justin Morneau of the Minnesota Twins holds the trophy for the 2008 MLB All-Star State Farm Home Run Derby at Yankee Stadium on July 14, 2008 in the Bronx borough of New York City. (Photo by Jim McIsaac/Getty Images)

If you saw the home run derby last year, you know how exciting this event can be, but since the star of last years derby Josh Hamilton is hurt and isnt likely to be participating in this event.

Here are who I think should be in this event to make it exciting like it was last year.

These Numbers as of Friday June, 12, 2009

1. Albert Pujols

SAN FRANCISCO - MAY 31: Albert Pujols #5 of the St. Louis Cardinals bats against the San Francisco Giants at AT&T Park on May 31, 2009 in San Francisco, California. (Photo by Ezra Shaw/Getty Images)

C'mon is there anyone else who should be #1? Albert Pujols would dominate this event held in his stadium, if he is in it expect him to win.

2009 numbers: .321 avg, 20 homers, and 55 rbis

2. Mark Teixeira

NEW YORK - JUNE 08: Mark Teixeira #25 of the New York Yankees hits a solo home run in the first inning against the Tampa Bay Rays on June 8, 2009 at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx borough of New York City. (Photo by Nick Laham/Getty Images)

Mark Teixeira is having a beastly year after signing a huge contract with the Yankees, and it would be fun to watch Pujols and him go at it for the home run derby title.

2009 numbers: .290 avg, 20 homers, and 54 rbi's

3. Adrián González

DENVER - MAY 31: Adrian Gonzalez #23 of the San Diego Padres takes an at bat against the Colorado Rockies during MLB action at Coors Field on May 31, 2009 in Denver, Colorado. The Padres defeated the Rockies 5-2. (Photo by Doug Pensinger/Getty Images)

Adrián González is leading the major leagues in homers so this choice is a fairly obvious one.

2009 numbers: .273 avg, 22 homers, and 43 rbis

4. Raúl Ibañez

LOS ANGELES, CA - JUNE 06: Raul Ibanez #29 of the Philadelphia Phillies jogs to the dugout against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium on June 6, 2009 in Los Angeles, California. The Dodgers defeated the Phillies 3-2 in twelve innings. (Photo by J

Raúl Ibañez is another player having a great year, after coming to the Philadelphia Phillies from the Seattle Mariners, Ibañez is already close to passing his 2008 home run total, and it's only the 60th game of the year.

2009 numbers: .325 avg, 21 homers, and 58 rbis

5. Carlos Peña

ST. PETERSBURG, FL - APRIL 15: Infielder Carlos Pena #23 of the Tampa Bay Rays homers against the New York Yankees at Tropicana Field on April 15, 2009 in St. Petersburg, Florida. (Photo by Al Messerschmidt/Getty Images)

Carlos Pena is a great power hitter, he destroys the ball almost every time he hits it. Pena is a great player with great power.

2009 numbers: .229 avg, 19 homers, 47 rbis

6. Jason Bay

BOSTON - JUNE 11: Jason Bay #44 of the Boston Red Sox makes contact against the New York Yankees at Fenway Park on June 11, 2009 in Boston, Massachusetts. (Photo by Jim Rogash/Getty Images)

After coming to the Boston Red Sox from the Pittsburgh Pirates in the infamous Manny Ramirez trade. Jason Bay has killed the ball this year and would be perfect for the home run derby.

2009 numbers: .280 avg, 16 homers, and 57 rbis

7. Justin Morneau

NEW YORK - MAY 17: Justin Morneau #33 of the Minnesota Twins bats against the New York Yankees on May 17, 2009 at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx borough of New York City. The Yankees defeated the Twins 3-2 in ten innings. (Photo by Jim McIsaac/Getty Images

Last years champ, Morneau is having a great year and should be in this event since he is the reigning champ and is having another MVP caliber year.

2009 numbers: .338 avg, 16 homers, 54 rbis

8. Ryan Howard

NEW YORK - JUNE 10: Ryan Howard #6 of the Philadelphia Phillies looks on during batting practice before the game against the New York Mets on June 10, 2009 at Citi Field in the Flushing neighborhood of the Queens borough of New York City. (Photo by Al B

Ryan Howard already won this event back in 2007, but he should go at it again because he is having another fantastic year and I personally would like to see him be in it again.

2009 numbers: .251 avg, 19 homers, 49 rbis
