After upsetting North Carolina and Virginia in the ACC tournament, the 1983 NC State team went on one of the most storied runs in college basketball history.

After barely edging out several nail-biters in the early rounds of the tourney, the "Cardiac Pack" went all the way to the championship game, meeting the heavily favored Houston Cougars.

The Pack, coached by Jim Valvano, held on to defeat "Phi Slama Jama," winning by two in dramatic fashion.
