It looks as though it will be an interesting summer for Catalan giants Barcelona. The reigning La Liga champions will be looking to strengthen their squad, and they will have a few holes to fill.
Even though the summer transfer window is still months away, rumours are constantly swirling around La Blaugrana.
This article will serve as a tracker for all of Barcelona's latest transfer rumours this week. Be sure to check back regularly to see what the buzz is regarding the Catalan giants.
Gerard Deulofeu to Return?
After spending a year on loan at English club Everton, it appears as though Gerard Deulofeu will be looking to return to Barcelona.
In a recent interview with Catalunya Radio (via Sky Sports), the 19-year-old had the following to say about returning to Barcelona:
I am working every day to get back to Barcelona next season. I watch all their matches and believe that they are having a good season. My dream is to find a place in the Barcelona attacking line-up and to do that I am progressing in the Premier League. I accepted the challenge last summer and I am happy with my decision. Now I am more mature as a person and as a footballer.
Ultimately, the Catalan club will have to make the call on whether or not Deulofeu will be in the squad for next year. As for now, he is doing everything he can to fight for a place in August.
David Luiz to Replace Carles Puyol?
After Barcelona captain Carles Puyol announced that this would be his last season with the club, the rumour mill immediately began predicting which defenders would be targeted as his replacement.
The report claims that the Catalans are prepared to offer €30 million for the Brazil star and would like to seal a deal before the World Cup begins this summer. Rumours have linked Luiz to Barcelona since last year, and they will surely pick up even more from here on out.
It is obvious that Barcelona will need to bring someone in to take Puyol's place in the squad. Whether or not that man is Luiz is not yet known.
