Jay King of Masslive.com reports that Kevin Garnett is out against the Celtics:

Original Text:

For the third straight game, Kevin Garnett will be out of action for the Brooklyn Nets due to injury, this time out of action against the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday evening.

From Tim Bontemps of the New York Post:

Before Garnett missed the game against the Chicago Bulls on Monday night, head coach Jason Kidd talked about what the team would miss without Garnett on the court, via Mike Mazzeo of ESPN:

(We'll miss) his energy. His understanding defensively. He brings a lot to the table, and also on the perimeter him being able to knock down shots. I think guys are getting better, or maybe a little bit more comfortable when he's not in there, because again, we've struggled with him in the lineup. We'll miss him, but hopefully he gets rest and he'll be able to go soon.

This season, Garnett is averaging just 6.7 points (a career low) and 6.7 rebounds per game, though he is averaging just 21 minutes per contest, another career low. Still, his defense and leadership are an important factor for a Nets team that is 29-29 and hardly a lock to reach the postseason.

Ensuring that Garnett can return to health and play an important role for the Nets down the stretch is vital for the Nets, a team that added him and Paul Pierce in an effort to make a run in the Eastern Conference playoffs this year.
