William Carvalho Mentions Manchester United in Dispatches
Highly rated Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho has spoken of the interest that "big clubs" have in him, according to Sky Sports.
Speaking to the press following Sporting's victory over Braga at the weekend, he said:
It could be Manchester United or Real Madrid. It's just nice to have a great European club after me, but at the moment I'm just totally focused on Sporting and doing my best until the end of the season.
At the end of the campaign, we will see what happens.
Valued at around £20 million, according to a report in the Daily Mail, Carvalho is apparently in David Moyes' plans.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are clearly in the player's thoughts.
United Target Santiago Arias as Seamus Coleman Too Expensive?
In the Metro, this interest is being reported as a response to Everton being prepared to "play hardball" over the future of Seamus Coleman, who is now apparently considered too expensive an option for United to pursue.
Calling Manchester United "the team of my dreams since I was a child," Felix Kroos may have raised United fans' hopes that this was a family affair.
He went on to say "I don't give him any advice."
This story will run and run.
Edinson Cavani Told Not to Move to the Premier League
The Mirror are today reporting on a story from French newspaper L'Equipe on suggestions that Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani is unhappy at Paris Saint-Germain.
PSG have often accommodated their array of attacking options by playing Cavani on the wing.
According to L'Equipe, former Uruguayan national coach and current coach of Ligue Un side Nancy, Pablo Correa has advised Cavani to stay in France.
Cavani is described in the story as a target for David Moyes. Cavani is also said to be on Jose Mourinho's radar. It is perhaps reasonable to assume that in United's case, the interest in the Uruguayan would strengthen should Robin van Persie leave the club in the summer.
United Want Eight New Signings
The article reports that Moyes is considering bringing up to eight new players into Old Trafford, and examines the logistical challenges this will involve. List makers rejoice!
David Moyes "Increasingly Concerned" About Robin Van Persie?
Last week's Transfer News and Rumour transfer featured a story on Robin van Persie potentially leaving Manchester United in the summer. This week, it is David Moyes' turn to consider the Dutchman's future.
In a story in the Daily Mail Moyes is said to be "increasingly concerned" and has apparently "expressed private frustrations" about van Persie's performances.
Nemanja Vidic Signs for Inter
Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic was pictured yesterday signing a contract with his future club, Inter Milan.
The image, released on the Inter twitter account, confirmed Vidic's summer destination.
Whether Vidic retains the captaincy in the wake of this announcement remains to be seen, but seeing the club captain signing papers for another team does not make easy viewing.
So long, Nemanja, and thanks for all the tackles.
Real Madrid After "Manchester United Targets" Paul Pogba and Arturo Vidal
Although Marotta is quoted as saying "Even if I had spoken about Pogba and Vidal I wouldn’t tell you." the Metro are reporting that Madrid have opened talks over a potential transfer for Arturo Vidal and Paul Pogba, both described as "Manchester United targets."
If Real Madrid are serious in their pursuit, this is presumably more bad new for David Moyes.
Luke Shaw Linked Again
The Daily Star believe that David Moyes is prepared to make Luke Shaw the Premier League's highest paid teenager in order to secure his services at Old Trafford.
The left-back, who made his full debut for England this week, is apparently seen as a suitable replacement for Patrice Evra.
David Moyes Watches Antoine Griezmann in Action
The report suggests Manchester United scout David Friio is a fan of the player.
Given the array of talent on show in that fixture it is perhaps too soon to make definitive conclusions, but Griezmann is an exciting talent who may be a fine fit for Old Trafford.
Arda Turan's Agent "Confirms Offer" from a Premier League Club
According to The Metro, Atletico Madrid winger Arda Turan has been the target of an approach from a Premier League club. The player's agent has apparently confirmed that firm interest in the player exists in England, and that the player has always admired the English league.
Turan would add a good deal to the Manchester United squad, both on the pitch and in the beard department where, Michael Carrick's occasional face-fuzz aside, United are severely lacking.
David Moyes Lines Up Move for Thomas Vermaelen?
The player is out of favour at the Emirates, and so Vermaelen can consider himself added to the ever growing list of players Manchester United are linked with.
Juventus Interested in Robin Van Persie, Who Is Prepared to Waive Loyalty Bonus
The Sunday Mirror are today claiming that Robin van Persie would be prepared to waive his £10 million loyalty bonus to leave Manchester United in the summer, with Juventus "circling with intent."
Rumours that van Persie, who was lucky not to be sent off against West Bromwich Albion, is not happy at United are only getting louder.
