Oklahoma State 72, No. 5 Kansas 65
On a night where his team needed a resume-boosting win, Marcus Smart propelled Oklahoma State (19-10, 7-9) to a victory over No. 5 Kansas (22-7, 13-3) at Gallagher-Iba Arena.
Smart, who had just one point in the first half, made two crucial layups in the final two minutes to clinch a marquee win that was desperately needed by Travis Ford's team.
The sophomore sensation scored 20 of his 21 points in the final 20 minutes to lead Oklahoma State to its seventh conference victory.
Markel Brown also had a terrific night for the Cowboys with 21 points of his own.
The major factor that undid the Jayhawks was their 22 turnovers, most of which came in crucial situations.
Kansas, who clinched the outright Big 12 regular-season title earlier in the day, had four players reach double digits, but its biggest concern came late in the game when Joel Embiid went down hard on the baseline.
Embiid was limping for the rest of the game and his injury will be something to keep an eye on for the remainder of the season.
The loss by the Jayhawks marked the 10th by a ranked team on Saturday.
