I'm one of those folks who has grown weary of the never-ending NFL off-season soap opera of Brett Favre maybe retiring, maybe not. However, the possibility of Favre playing for the rival of the team with which he established his legendary career bothers me, and I will tell you why.

First off, I know that this is only sports and that in many situations, business comes before loyalty/past ties. However, Brett Favre will always be remembered as a GREEN BAY PACKER!! The notion of him playing for the rival Minnesota Vikings is just ridiculous to me.

Secondly, Brett Favre is understandably at a point in his career where his skills are diminishing. He and the Jets were off to a great start last year but faltered at the end of the season and missed the playoffs. I'm not blaming that all on Brett's performance, but you could see how in the second half of the season, Brett started to noticeably wear down.

I don't mean any disrespect to Favre, I believe he is one of the greatest quarterbacks that has ever lived, and his achievements are the stuff of legend. But this is where I make my main point. Almost all of the things he has achieved on the football field have come with the Green Bay Packers. I don't know how Brett, in all good conscience, could join the Vikings and suit up against the Packers twice a year. I know this may sound silly to some, but I just don't like it at all, the notion of Brett Favre playing for the Vikings.

So all in all, hopefully ESPN will stop over-playing the Brett Favre drama, because as a football fan, I would like to hear about other stories and what's going on in the NFL, but one piece of news I do want to hear is that Brett Favre did not join the Vikings! Thanks!
