The Texas Rangers have seen each of their last two seasons come down to do-or-die games. Judging from the way they went about their offseason, they would prefer to avoid the same fate in 2014.
The Rangers made two of the winter’s biggest splashes, signing Shin-Soo Choo to a $130 million contract and trading for Prince Fielder. With the two of them in the mix, the power the Rangers lost when Josh Hamilton bolted for Anaheim should be back.
Still, the Rangers aren’t without question marks heading into 2014.
MLB Lead Writer Zachary D. Rymer is here to break those down, starting with the vacancy the Rangers have at closer and moving on to which youngsters they’re leaning heavily on and how their rotation is looking after Yu Darvish (hint: shaky).
