I know what you're thinking, "Patrick in a Earnhardt Ganassi Chevy, does this mean Truex is definitely leaving?" Well not exactly.
Rumors are floating that Chip Ganassi is working on a deal that would not only keep open wheel's biggest name and face away from stock car racing, but continue her advancement in the Indy Racing League ranks.
While Ganassi hasn't returned any phone calls about the possibility of signing Patrick for a third car on the 2010 Target team, alongside Scott Dixon and Dario Franchitti, Mike Hull, managing director of Target/Ganassi acknowledged the possibility.
"We've always entertained having a third driver if we could get the comparable funding that Target provides us," said Hull, "If Danica has something and wants to talk to us that would be great because I think she's ready to take that next step. But I can tell you we haven't spoken to her."
Patrick's current deal, a three-year contract with Andretti-Green Racing worth $21 million thanks to sponsor Motorola, expires at the end of this season. And while this rumored deal is for IRL if she were to sign with Ganassi and truly want to step into the stock car world, she could work on Ganassi for a shot at one of the EGR rides.
