Chris Woods Jockey reviews Belmont Stakes
It was a good race, but once again I would like to say that I don't believe that there will be a triple crown winner in our lifetime. My arguments:
Very simple: with the incredible amount of scrutiny on breeding and horse care, and the increased competition, we will not see another triple crown winning horse in the next 40 years. Horses are bread with specific skills and there is too much difference, particularly with the length of the Belmont, which prevents any one horse from being dominant in all three races.
Furthermore, with the recent death of a horse at the track in the Kentucky Derby, and the huge amount of pressure coming from animal rights activists, the horse owners cannot afford to take any chances whatsoever of pushing a horse too far.
