Jimmy Gillheeney was selected by the Seattle Mariners with the 233rd overall pick in the 8th round.

Jimmy was selected to the second-team All-ACC team and was also a preseason All-American.

Gillheeney went 6-5 with a 3.86 ERA, struck out 75, and walked 34 in 13 starts for the NC State Wolfpack in 2009

Gillheeney was moved into the rotation after having a successful season 2008 campaign as the Wolfpack's Closer.

In 2008 as the closer he was 2-0 with 10 saves in 21 relief appearances struck out 42 and walking 12, while posting a 1.12 ERA.

Following the 2008 season Gilheeney earned a spot on the First-team All- Conference and the Third-Team All-American teams.

Joining players like Jamie Wolkosky in 1992 and Joey Devine in the 2003-2005 seasons.

Gillheeney is not going to wow you with a 95 MPH fastball but he has a major league change-up and a major league cutter.

Jimmy becomes the 20th Wolfpack player selected in the first 10 rounds of the draft under head coach Elliot Avent and 10th player drafted in the last two years.
