A great time in the 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine has proven to launch players up draft boards. Players participating in drills at this year's combine just got even more incentive to crush in the most publicized drill. Adidas will pay a whopping $100,000 to the athlete who runs the fastest time while wearing the "adizero 5-Star 40" cleat.

UPDATE: Tuesday, February 25, 1:11 p.m. ET

Former Oregon State wide receiver Brandin Cooks won the $100,000 with his 40-yard dash time of 4.33.

Adidas explained to B/R that the shoe combines numerous elements for maximum performance:

Combining the world’s lightest track spike, the adizero Prime and the lightest football cleat, the adizero 5-Star 3.0, adidas is bringing track speed to Indianapolis this weekend with their revolutionary adizero 5-Star 40 cleat.
