Olympic Snowboarding 2014: Live Results, Analysis of Men's Cross

The snowboard cross is always unpredictable, and it certainly fit that description in Sochi.

Pierre Vaultier was not considered a medal contender at the start, but he came away with the gold medal. Russian snowboarder Nikolay Oliyunin gave Vaultier a good battle and came away with the silver. 

American Alex Deibold managed to survive the rough-and-tumble event and he came away with the bronze medal.

Top snowboarders like Alex Pullin of Australia and Markus Schairer of Austria did not even make the final. 

It's a huge day for Deibold, who survived four races to pick up his medal.
