Mike Florio of NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk reports on Ray Rice's rumored punishment:

There’s apparently a rumor floating around that the NFL will suspend Ravens running back Ray Rice two games under the personal-conduct policy for his offseason assault on the woman who later became his wife.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Rice has not yet been informed of a suspension, or of the duration of a suspension.

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh spoke with Aaron Wilson of The Baltimore Sun about how he expects the Ravens to handle Ray Rice's situation. Via Pro Football Talk:

It’s not my decision to make or [break] any of us here. It’s in other people’s hands. I’m sure there’s a lot of complications making those kind of decisions. There are many sides to every story, and there are a lot of factors. There are other people involved.

There are other disciplinary situations involved around the league. That has to be weighed and taken into context They’re going to have to sort through that to be fair about the whole thing. I know the league is really judicious about that. I think they work really hard to do the right thing. I don’t think they worry about public opinion too much. I think they want to do the right thing by the people involved and see where it goes.

The arraignment for Ravens running back Ray Rice has been scheduled for April 28 in New Jersey. Rice was indicted by a grand jury on third-degree aggravated assault after a February altercation with his then-fiance Janay Palmer.

Court documents state that Rice, "did attempt to cause significant bodily injury to Janay Palmer, and/or did purposely or knowingly cause significant bodily injury to Janay Palmer and/or under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to the value of human life, did recklessly cause significant bodily injury to Janay Palmer."

TMZ has obtained video footage of Ray Rice carrying his fiancee out of an elevator at the Atlantic City casino, which was the scene of the altercation.

The video can also be seen at TMZ's official website, where their staff described the events that occur in the video:

TMZ Sports has obtained footage of Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice dragging his fiancee (who appears to be out cold) out of an elevator in an Atlantic City casino ... moments after cops say they attacked each other on the property. 

The footage was shot on February 15th ... right before Rice and his fiancee Janay Palmer were both arrested for assault at the Revel Casino. Cops say they have video which proved both parties attacked each other. 

But before the arrest, Ray can be seen trying to lift and move a seemingly unconscious Palmer out of a casino elevator. 

TMZ continued with a statement from Rice's attorney:

We spoke to an attorney for Ray who tells us ... he has not seen the video but is adamant, "Neither Ray nor myself will try this case in the media."

He adds, "However, the video that's being posted by TMZ Sports is not the complete event, but is merely the end result of what transpired."

"We'll assure the public that when this matter is fully tried and completed, you'll have a better understanding of what happened and we ask the public to reserve making any judgment until all of the facts come out."

Police arrested Baltimore Ravens star running back Ray Rice over the weekend following an incident inside an Atlantic City, N.J., casino on Friday night.    

Rice's attorneys have confirmed the arrest, according to The Baltimore Sun's Justin Fenton.

Authorities charged and released the 27-year-old after he was allegedly involved in a "very minor physical altercation" at the Revel Casino on the boardwalk, attorney Andrew Alperstein told Fenton. Rice's fiancee was also booked in connection with the incident, but it's unclear what role she had in the alleged altercation.

Aaron Wilson of The Baltimore Sun reports that both parties were given the same charge:

Ravens director of pubic relations Chad Steele had little information to add to the report, but he acknowledged that the team has been in contact with Rice since the arrest.

"We are aware of the Friday night situation with Ray Rice and his fiancee," he told Fenton. "We have spoken with Ray, and know that they returned home together after being detained."

Attorney Michael Diamondstein, whom Rice recently hired to help him with the case, believes that the evidence will support his client (via Fenton):

We haven’t seen any charging documents yet. There was an argument that included Ray. I can’t give any specifics because we haven’t seen the document yet. 

Once we’re able to go through the evidence, it should wind up to be little more than a misunderstanding.

Wilson later spoke to general manager Ozzie Newsome about Rice's troubles and his status with the franchise:

Although Rice and his attorneys appear confident that the evidence will support a case in their favor, it remains to be seen how everything will play out.

The good news for Rice and the Ravens is that the NFL offseason is still young, allowing the three-time Pro Bowler some time to sort out the issue before organized team activities and training camp arrive in the spring.

On the field, Rice has played the past six seasons with the Ravens, proving to be one of the league's most durable and dynamic playmakers out of the backfield.

However, the veteran is coming off his worst season since his rookie year in 2008. Rice rushed for just 660 yards and four touchdowns last year as the Ravens missed the playoffs for the first time since drafting Rice.

With Rice heading into the third year of a five-year, $35 million deal, Baltimore will soon have a very important decision to make if his struggles continue. Running backs don't last long in today's NFL, and with Rice recently gaining negative publicity off the field, the Ravens have even more ammunition if they decide to part ways with the former Rutgers star.

Therefore, given Rice's declining performance in 2013 and his recent run-in with the law, it appears that both Rice and the Ravens will be at a crossroads in 2014.
