Talk about drama and excitement.
On Saturday afternoon at the Adler Arena Skating Center, the Dutch were finally denied a gold medal in men's speedskating.
And it all came down to a couple of microseconds.
Poland's Zbigniew Brodka captured gold in the men's 1,500-meter race, posting a time that was just three-thousandths of a second better than the Netherlands' Koen Verweij.
It was just that close.
Verweij was forced to settle for silver.
Canada's Denny Morrison captured bronze, his second medal of the Sochi Games.
Shani Davis, one of the most decorated American speedskaters in history, continued to struggle in Sochi.
He placed 11th in the 1,500 meters after posting an eighth-place finish in Wednesday's 1,000-meter race.
Davis remains without a medal in the 2014 Winter Games.
