In a beer advert featuring Eric Cantona for Kronenbourg, hop farmers in the French city Alsace are celebrated in a way typically reserved for footballers.
Their statues are unveiled, they bask in female adulation and are generally given the celebrity treatment for their hard work.
Good on them—they help make our beer, so they naturally should be championed as such.
Cantona even boats, "If you find a better tasting French beer, we'll eat our berets."
One minor problem, though: Kronenbourg is brewed in Manchester.
Although the advert alludes to this fact in small words, count the Advertising Standards Authority among those unimpressed with the geographical misdirection, and pulled it entirely.
Hat tip to Who Ate All the Pies for the find.
