C.J. Fair and the undefeated Syracuse Orange will face a big-time test against the aggressive Pitt Panthers tonight.
Syracuse has established themselves as the de facto best team in college basketball at the moment...until they lose.
It appears that could happen tonight, as the Orange will be welcomed into the Oakland Zoo, the spirited student section of Pitt Panther basketball fans who will be hoping that their team can be the first squad in 2014 to knock Boeheim's Boys off.
Any ACC matchup which can upstage Duke-North Carolina (which was postponed, by the way) is a momentous one. And after a tightly-contested 59-54 Syracuse win when these two teams met in the Carrier Dome last month, this one looks like it should be a doozy too.
Pitt's Lamar Patterson, their top scorer with over 17 points per game, has been battling a thumb injury which has curtailed his shooting.
Backup center Baye Moussa Keita, of the top-ranked squad, who hurt his knee in the first meeting between these two, will not be available.
If Rakeem Christmas or Jerami Grant get into early foul trouble, look for Talib Zanna and the Panthers' big men to make plays down low—and for Patterson and James Robinson to keep feeding those players.
Enough with the predicting and prognositicating...let's get to the action! As Dickie V. would say, "It's Ay-Cee-Cee basketball, bay-bee!"
