Throughout the world, there are many different football stadiums that can amaze us. From Olympic stadiums to a small local football club home park, these stadiums are unique in their own special way.

In football, (aka The World's Game), these stadiums can be found everywhere, but only a few of them are actually really special.

Here is a list of the ten most intimidating football stadiums in the world for top flight football clubs.

#10 Westfalenstadion (Signal Iduna Park): Opened 1974—Home of BV Borussia Dortmund

With one of the loudest stadiums anywhere, Westfalenstadion has been one extremely intimidating area for opposing teams to play in.

It houses a capacity of 80,552, and with the crazy fans in the Südtribüne, this place gets really loud.
It is the home of BV Borussia Dortmund in the German Bundesliga.

It also was the host of the 2006 World Cup semifinal between Italy and the host country Germany, in which Italy won as the went on to win the World Cup over France.

#9 Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium (Fenerbahçe Stadium): Opened 1908—Home of Fenerbahçe S.K.

The home of Fenerbahçe S.K. and considered by many to be not only one of the scariest stadiums in Europe but in the world, the Fenerbahçe Stadium truly is one of the toughest places for an opposing team to play.

With a capacity of 50,530, this stadium can become etremely loud, especially in Turkey. Most stadiums have a track between the pitch and the stands, but not here. This causes the stadium to get smaller and become louder.

#8 Mineirão Stadium: Opened 1965—Home of Atlético Mineiro and Cruzeiro EC

With a capacity of 75,000, the Mineirão Stadium is not only one of the biggest football stadiums in Brazil, but one of the most intimidating. It's the home stadium of Atlético Mineiro and Cruzeiro EC.

Also, it previously has had a capacity as high as 132,834, but it had to be reduced multiple times. It is currently in consideration to be a host stadium for the 2014 World Cup.

#7 Camp Nou: Opened 1957—Home of FC Barcelona

With the biggest stadium in both Spain and Europe and the home of FC Barcelona, the Camp Nou is truly one of the most imposing and intimidating stadiums in the world.

The stadium holds 98,772 seats, and the stadium is massive. It has reached a prior capacity of 105,000 for the 1982 World Cup and hosted the famous 1999 Champions League final between Manchester United and Bayern Munich.

#6 Santiago Bernabéu Stadium: Opened 1947—Home of Real Madrid

The home of Real Madrid since 1947 and the home of the 2010 Champions League final, the Bernabéu is truly one of the toughest stadiums to play in for an important match.

During its time, the capacity has reached as high as 120,000. It also is one of the toughest stadiums to play, not only in Spain, but in the world.

#5 Estadio Monumental Antonio Vespucio Liberti (River Plate Stadium): Opened 1938—Home of Club Atlético River Plate

The home of Home of Club Atlético River Plate and the Argentinian national team, the River Plate Stadium is an intimidating venue for an opposing team to play in.

It has a capacity of 65,645 and was the host stadium for the 1978 World Cup final.

It has an intimidatingly giant size and loud supporters.

#4 Estadio Azteca: Opened 1966—Home of América

The largest stadium in North America with a capacity of 115,000, the Estadio Azteca is a historic stadium It has been the only stadium to host two World Cup Finals and it also was the Olympic Stadium for the 1968 Summer Games.

It also has been the home of América, the most sucsessful Mexican club in history, and the Mexican national team. It also is known to get extremely loud.

#3 Estádio do Maracanã: Opened 1950—Home of Botafogo, Flamengo, Fluminense and Vasco da Gama

Originally built to be the stadium for the final of the 1950 World Cup, the Estádio do Maracanã has since served as the home to four Brazilian teams (Botafogo, Flamengo, Fluminense and Vasco da Gama), and is the largest stadium in all of South America.

It is one of the most intimidating because of its capacity of 88,992.

#2 Stadio Giuseppe Meazza (San Siro): Opened 1926—Home of Inter Milan and AC Milan

The home of AC Milan and Inter Milan, two of the greatest Italian teams in history, the San Siro has seen many different tites won between these two giant. It is one tough place for an opposing team to play in and try to get a positve result of any kind.

With a capacity of 80,074, the stadium is also one of the biggest in Europe and with it's massive size. It is tough for opposing teams to play in even when the stadium isn't completely filled.

#1 Estadio Alberto J. Armando (La Bombonera): Opened 1940—Home of Boca Juniors

Considered by many to not only be the most intimidating stadium in Argentina but in the world, the Estadio Alberto J. Armando (which is home to Argentina's most famous football team: Boca Juniors), is truly one extremely hard place for an opposing team to play in.

With a capacity of 57,395, the supporters in the stands can not only get very loud, but they can cause the stands to sway if they jump in rhythm. The fans get extremely loud when city rival River Plate comes here, which is considered by some to be the best rivalry in football.
