Radamel Falcao is currently sidelined due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury that required surgery.

It could well be enough to kill off his World Cup hopes, and it leaves him stuck in a hospital while his Monaco teammates are desperately trying to keep pace with Paris Saint-Germain in the Ligue 1 title race.

But clearly hospital staff had a plan to cheer him up: champagne and cake.

"Treatment at the clinic with a great birthday surprise," Falcao wrote on Instagram.

All you can say for sure is that this wouldn't happen on the NHS.
