17th-ranked Iowa put on a show at Carver-Hawkeye Arena today, annihilating No. 10 Michigan by a final score of 85-67. Even that doesn't entirely do justice to a game in which the home team was on cruise control for most of the second half.
Star guard Roy Devyn Marble led the Hawkeyes with an overpowering 22-point first half, finishing with 26. PG Mike Gesell added eight assists, three steals and 10 more points. Iowa showed its depth (nine players scored) but also its size in smothering the Wolverines on the glass, 38-29.
For Michigan, Caris LeVert was the high scorer with 22 points. Reserve Zak Irvin also looked sharp (19 points, 4-for-6 from deep). Stars Nik Stauskas and Glenn Robinson III were nowhere to be found, totaling just 12 points (many after the game was already out of reach) against eight turnovers.
