After a dramatic finish, times two, last night the Cubs are rolling still, six straight, nine of ten, and fourteen of seventeen. Unlike the previous five wins though, the Cubs were forced to make not one, but two dramatic comebacks to defeat the Colorado Rockies 7-6, in front of what some talking heads and analysts called a stunned Coors Field.
However, from what I saw through many highlight replays and heard on the radio as Pat had to give Santo oxygen after Ramirez's homer in the 9th, was Wrigley Field Mountain. The crowd, probably 10,000 plus, of Cub Fans was in a frenzy, a mob scene, evena riot after Ryan Theriot delivered the winning shot to right with two outs in the tenth.
If this streak continues, and it may until Soriano returns and retakes the lead-off spot instead of being the fifth or sixth man in the order, but that is for another story, then can you imagine the mass of Cub Fans filtering into Coors tonight and Washington over the weekend? The riot police need be ready because as the Cubs keep rolling then the sea of blue clad fans that tend to invade road venues anyway will continue to grow to mammoth proportions! Just think back to Atlanta in the NLDS of '03!!!
