Despite one early hiccup, the Opening Ceremony of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia went off well. 

The event was capped off by the lighting of the Olympic flame by six notable Russian athletes, including tennis star Maria Sharapova.

Hockey legend Vladislav Tretiak and gymnast Irina Rodnina were the two to physically light the torch.

The games will go on for two weeks before ending on Feb. 23.
