The makeup of WWE WrestleMania XXX is still in flux, potential matchups shifting like the pieces of a sliding block puzzle.

Daniel Bryan and John Cena are both being considered for a number of different bouts at the event. Backstage reports shed light on what's being discussed for them as well as the rest of the ever-changing pay-per-view card.

In contrast to the uncertainty surrounding how WrestleMania XXX will look come April 6, it appears that Cody Rhodes' bout is one of the more certain ones. The tag team champ is reportedly getting the fight that fans have been pining to see him in.

It also appears that "The Legs of WWE" could join him at the marquee pay-per-view in some capacity.

Stacy Keibler Returning?

WWE is said to be working to get Stacy Keibler back in time for WrestleMania. PWInsider, via WrestlingInc.com, reported the following on the situation:

WWE officials including Stephanie McMahon are trying to bring back Stacy Keibler to the company and a possible Hall of Fame induction is rumored. They also want Stacy to play a big role during WrestleMania XXX weekend. There was talk of her possibly having a backstage correspondent role at the show. It's not confirmed that she will sign a deal with WWE but her name was definitely talked about a lot in the last week as a way for WWE to legitimatize themselves during WrestleMania XXX weekend.

WrestleMania has a history of bringing in celebrities of varying degrees of fame, and Keibler is a unique case as she is both a WWE alum and somewhat of a celebrity outside of the wrestling world.

Having her appear backstage would be a good role for her. Some kind of confrontation with current backstage interviewer Renee Young has potential to be a memorable moment.

Keibler remains a long shot to come back, though. Last October, TMZ.com reported that "she believes that part of her life is over and she wants to focus on other things." Even so, should she perceive the Hall of Fame nod as a big deal and should the check for her appearance have sufficient zeroes on it, a short-term comeback is definitely a possibility.

Sting to WWE Update

Sting fans are seemingly set to see what was previously thought impossible: "The Icon" working for Vince McMahon. The latest report, however, will dishearten those holding out hope for a Sting vs. Undertaker match at WrestleMania XXX.

That doesn't appear to be a part of the plans. F4WOnline, via WrestlingInc.com, reports the following:

The latest on Sting is that he still has not signed but the general feeling is that it's a foregone conclusion that he's coming in. While he's not expected to be rushed into a match at WrestleMania XXX, word is that the working idea right now is for Sting to possibly be the new RAW General Manager.

While replacing Brad Maddox as Raw's GM is less of a dream scenario than fans might have envisioned, it's the smart move. At Sting's age, it's hard to imagine him putting on a match with Undertaker capable of living up to the hype.

Easing him into the WWE world is smarter as there are certainly fans who aren't familiar with his work in WCW and TNA. Fans who grew up watching Sting battle Ric Flair, Vader and later the nWo will think that's an insane statement, but WWE arenas are filled with younger fans whose first hero was Cena.

Sting has value, but the coveted bout against Undertaker shouldn't go to him. WWE seems to agree, prepping him for a role as an authority figure instead.

Potential WrestleMania Matches

It isn't clear what matches will actually make it to the card, though. The above report on Sting's possible role also lists a number of matches WWE is currently considering. They include the following:

  • Kane vs. Sheamus
  • John Cena vs. Triple H
  • Triple H vs. Daniel Bryan with a WWE World Heavyweight Championship match at Extreme Rules on the line
  • Randy Orton vs. Batista vs. Daniel Bryan
  • Sheamus vs. Triple H

It'd be surprising for WWE to head towards Triple H vs. Cena at this point. The Authority storyline hasn't touched Cena much and his issues with Bray Wyatt would be much easier to build upon.

Triple Threat matches in the WrestleMania main event are extremely rare, so one would assume that Orton vs. Batista vs. Bryan isn't going to happen. It is, however, a match with more intrigue than a straight-up Orton and Batista bout and would be a easy way to give Bryan fans what they want.

As for the Triple H and Bryan option, giving Bryan a shot at a future title match would do well to pacify his discontented fanbase as well, especially if it gives him a chance to finally thwart the man who has made his life a series of frustrating moments. The company reportedly isn't planning for Bryan to win that match, though.

PWInsider, via WrestlingInc.com, reports that regarding Triple H vs. Bryan, "nobody within WWE expects Bryan to go over."

Insert Triple H's shovel joke here. If that scenario is indeed what comes to pass, expect several non-PG chants to echo through the Superdome. For WWE to crush the people's hero yet again is a risky move. The WrestleMania audience would make the reaction to Batista's Royal Rumble seem tame.

That PWInsider report also states that Batista vs. Brock Lesnar is more likely to happen after WrestleMania. WWE has teased tension between the two, but "the feeling is that it was done to build to something between the two later this year."

One of the more likely matches to happen is Rhodes vs. Goldust.

Are the Rhodes brothers headed for a collision at WrestleMania?

The brothers have been the center of rumors and discussion as foes for a long time. The former tag team champs are reportedly expected to collide at "The Show of Shows."

As F4WOnline, via WrestlingInc.com, reports, "There are plans for Cody vs. Goldust at WrestleMania XXX this year."

Plans change, but with the Rhodes brothers failing to reclaim their titles, it's easy to see frustrations between them building. This is a match that many fans want to see and is one of the best possible uses of Goldust's recent run.

Even this clash shouldn't be considered a lock, though. The early framework for WrestleMania XXX has plenty of time to warp and change its shape several times over.
