The LSU Tigers have been active on national signing day, inking some of the best recruits in the country to become a part of their program for the next several seasons.

LSU has been involved with several of the nation's top recruits. A case can easily be made for the Tigers to be considered within the top-five recruiting classes of this year if all goes according to plan. Even still, the fact that the Tigers have been considered by so many future collegiate athletes suggests that this program is on the rise yet again.

Here's a look at the top additions the Tigers made on national signing day.

Leonard Fournette, RB

The LSU Tigers got themselves a truly gifted player when they landed 5-star recruit Leonard Fournette. 247Sports lists Fournette as not only the top running back in the class of 2014, but also the No. 1 recruit overall, per the site's composite rankings.

247Sports gives Fournette perfect scores in both his build and tackle-breaking abilities, and near-perfect scores in speed, explosiveness and power. He's pretty much everything teams look for in a future star running back.

LSU legend Kevin Faulk envisions a bright future for Fournette with the Tigers. He told Ron Higgins of NOLA.com just what he sees in Fournette: "With what I've seen so far from him, it (breaking Faulk's records) shouldn't be a problem, God willing."

Faulk, of course, has the No. 2 career rushing mark in the SEC. He racked up 4,557 yards in 41 games and is the only LSU Tiger to average over 100 yards rushing per game.

If the Tigers can get that in Fournette, then they'll be set for at least the next three seasons.

Malachi Dupre, WR

To go along with the No. 1 overall player in the country, the Tigers also brought aboard the No. 2 wide receiver in the class. He's also the No. 4 player in the state of Louisiana and the 17th-best prospect in the class of 2014, per 247Sports' composite rankings.

Malachi Dupre has the makings of a great possession receiver. He was given a perfect score in "ball skills" by 247Sports and a near-perfect score in both "hands" and "agility." He also ran a 4.58 40-yard dash.

Some view Dupre as a vertical threat given his height of 6'2.5." Dupre is talented enough to fill any role on offense for Les Miles, and that will make him an asset in balancing the Tigers' offense. His highlight tape sees him making plays all over the field:

Despite just signing, JC Shurburtt of 247Sports stresses the importance of Dupre to LSU's future:

His skill set will be heavily utilized by Miles in the future.

Jamal Adams, S

247Sports lists Jamal Adams as a safety, running back and returner. While he'll likely have to choose between offense and defense in the near future, his versatility will prove valuable to LSU.

Adams is solid across the board according to 247Sports. His size and frame are assets, as are his ball skills and instincts. He also runs a 4.48 40-yard dash, and that's where his value as a returner lies.

He did it all in 2013. He racked up 79 tackles and one interception as a safety. He also carried the ball 18 times for 215 yards and five touchdowns. As a receiver, he brought in 17 receptions for 459 yards and nine touchdowns. He even added in two kick-return touchdowns.

In addition to all this production, 247Sports' composite rankings have him as the No. 2 safety in the class. Considering his athleticism, it's no surprise.

Adams is dynamic. Even if he doesn't have a clear-cut position just yet, Miles will be able to find a niche for him in no time.
