Avry's Logo Blog:Logo #1 The Gary Southshore RailCats

Avry Lewis-McDougallContributor IJune 8, 2009

This is my first blog on Sports Logos.

Because I love talking about the different looks of teams' symbols, and my first blog is on the logo of the Gary-South Shore Rail Cats of the Northern Baseball League.

First of all, what is a rail cat?

I really am not sure. I don’t think I would like to know, but by my guess it’s a cat that can’t tell rails apart from a bat. He’s using it to swing at a ball that is behind him, showing that he's going to break his back swinging at this ball or maybe the ball is in front of him and my eyes are failing me.

This logo is still highly weird. How in the world does a cat know how to lift a rail anyway? I guess the team decided confusing little children is a good idea. I don’t like it myself, and it scares me. Cats with rails are disturbing, but beyond that I will give the team credit for making a logo. It's original and has the ability to make kids pee their pants in fear.
