In the third update to the Franchiseplay Sports NBA 2K14 draft class, the Arizona Wildcats athletic freshman forward Aaron Gordon is included.
The ratings for Gordon are made to reflect his freakish athletic ability, but also his unrefined offensive tools. Gordon looks a lot like a poor man’s Blake Griffin at this point. When you compare their statistics as freshmen, that comparison seems accurate.
In Griffin's freshman season at Oklahoma he averaged 14.1 ppg, 9.1 rebounds and shot just under 57 percent from the field. Gordon is averaging 11.8 ppg, 8.1 rebounds and shooting just 46 percent from the field.
They are similar athletes for sure, though.
There is no doubting Gordon’s ability to finish close to the basket, though. He is also a more consistent defender than Griffin was early in his career.
The second player included in the update is the Indiana Hoosiers’ freshman big man Noah Vonleh.
He’s been coming on lately and Bleacher Report's draft expert, Jonathan Wasserman thinks Vonleh is a safer pick than Kentucky’s Julius Randle on draft boards.
Vonleh had 10 points, 12 rebounds and two blocked shots in the Hoosiers’ big 63-52 win over the Michigan Wolverines on Saturday.
Lastly, Kentucky’s Willie Cauley-Stein is also included. Thankfully, he’s removed the blonde dye from his hair. It made it easier to add him to the game.
WCS’ athleticism and shot-blocking ability are reflected, but much like Gordon, his offensive skill set is rudimentary at this point.
Here’s a look at the players added to this point.
- Andrew Wiggins, Kansas
- Jabari Parker, Duke
- Joel Embiid, Kansas
- Marcus Smart, Oklahoma St.
- Dante Exum, Australia
- Julius Randle, Kentucky
- Aaron Gordon, Arizona
- Noah Vonleh, Indiana
- Willie Cauley-Stein, Kentucky
Remember, all players are fan-created and not official renders from 2K Sports. Stay tuned for the next update.
