Freddie Roach: Scared but Smart

"That's why he's the best."

Apparently Roach's pride and joy the so-called pound for pound king Manny Pacquiao has made it clear that he will indeed fight on Oct. 17, 2009. The question lingering in every fight fan's mind is, "Who?"

We all know that Sugar Shane Mosley has been openly campaigning for a fight against the Pacman, but trainer Freddie Roach doesn't seem so confident in having his fighter accept.

I recently can across an article written by Nick Giongco that claimed, “Mosley is willing to come down in weight and take a smaller share of the pot, which show you he wants to fight the best. Obviously that's an admirable quality.”

In order for this Pacquiao-Mosley fight to happen, Roach wants Mosley to come down in weight. Check.

He wants Manny to walk away with more money than his opponent: Pacquiao gets 60 percent.

What more does Freddie Roach want to control: the color of the gloves. or is he just in fear that his fighter may actually be defeated? Clearly, Mosley has agreed to meet all of Roach's demands in order to step into the ring with the pound-for-pound king. Obviously, he didn't think Mosley would ever agree.

What is now preventing this fight from taking place?

The outcome of Cotto-Clottey? The outcome of Marquez-Mayweather? Fear?

The look on Roach's face above is the look of a man who no longer has any reason to not take Mosley up on his offer! Let them fight so that we can move on from this discussion!
