At least Richard Sherman had the decency to help spot the Seattle Seahawks a 29-point lead before he went off injured in Super Bowl XLVIII.

The star cornerback went down in the third quarter holding his leg, per NFL.com's Ian Rapoport:

He missed one play, then came back and defended Demaryius Thomas on a fade route down the sideline.

Unfortunately, that wasn't the end of Sherman's injury issues in the Super Bowl. Early in the fourth quarter, he suffered an ankle injury that appeared even more serious, according to the Seahawks Twitter account:

Sherman was carted off the sideline to the locker room. Late in the fourth quarter, the broadcast showed him on crutches.

After the game, ProFootballTalk added:

With Seattle up 43-8 at the time, it wasn't a necessity for him to rush back to the field. However, it's a shame that Sherman couldn't finish the game. He was one of the Seahawks' best players this season and was a big reason they forced their way into the Super Bowl.

Sherman never returned to the game, but after the 43-8 win, that was the least of his concerns:
