Look out Sage Rosenfels and Tarvaris Jackson: No. 4 is coming.

It was reported today on ESPN.com that Brett Favre underwent surgery to repair his throwing arm last month.

Until now, Favre's agent Bus Cook has played this close to his chest, consistently claiming Favre is retired and he knows nothing. However, it was reported on Friday (by AP/SI.com) that Cook let this one fly, and it should make a number of Vikings veterans and fans quite happy.

"Without prompting, Cook then began touting Favre's ability, as if he were trying to sell the Vikings on a contract. He said: 'I would think they would pull out all the stops if they want to get the guy. I think Brett Favre just brings a whole new ballgame to any ball club. That's no reflection on the guys that are on their team at quarterback right now, but Brett's in a different league than most.'"

This is the clearest message yet to come from Favre's camp that he wants to be in a Vikings uniform this season.

Looks like John David Booty needs to pick another jersey number, and Fran Tarkenton needs to send Favre an apology text message.

If Childress ignores Buss Cook and Brett Favre's mating call, and the Vikings do not go deep into the playoffs with Jackson or Rosenfels, Childress could be golfing in Florida this time next year.
