The Boston Celtics had been far from super lately by losing four straight games, but they hosted the Orlando Magic on Sunday afternoon and took care of business with a 96-89 win, just their fourth victory since Dec. 18.
Rajon Rondo turned in a stellar performance by hitting nine of his 11 shots for 19 points, plus 10 assists, six rebounds and three steals. Jared Sullinger led all players with 21 points and 12 rebounds.
Arron Afflalo paced the Magic with 18 points. Nikola Vucevic finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds, including five offensive boards.
The Celtics (16-33) led nearly the entire game and held off Orlando after taking a 14-12 lead with five minutes left in the first quarter. The Magic (13-36) got outrebounded 44-39, and they fall to 0-25 when they get beaten on the boards according to the CSN telecast.
The Celtics continue their lottery tour as they visit the Philadelphia 76ers next on Feb. 5. Boston fell at home to Philly 95-94 on Jan. 29. As for the Magic, you can pencil them in for a loss in their next game as they visit the Indiana Pacers on Feb. 3.
