From a Duck to a ‘Hawk?

The Seattle Seahawks have released former MVP running back Shuan Alexander.

Could this open the door for Jonathan Stewart? Perhaps-but I think it only cracks the door for J. Stew.

Well before the release of Alexander the Seahawks were in need of RB support. The team added both Julius Jones and T.J. Duckett in free agency. They also have incumbent backup Maurice Morris.

While Jones did have a 1,084 yard season with the Cowboys, he hasn’t shown much else. Little used T.J. Duckett doesn’t seem to be the answer either.

The Seahawks have the 25th pick in this weekend’s NFL draft. According to team president Tim Ruskell the Seahawks may trade their first round pick in order to gain more picks.

“We wouldn’t mind picking up extra picks in this draft,” Ruskell said Friday. “The extra picks have been good to us, and we look at them as gold.”

Jonathan Stewart going to Seattle doesn’t seem to be a bad fit. But the big question is will he still be available when the Seahawks on are on the board.

So for all of us in the Pacific Northwest-keep your fingers crossed. You just might see J. Stew staying home.
