The Northwestern Wildcats pulled a stunning upset tonight in Madison, defeating the Wisconsin Badgers by a final score of 65-56. Drew Crawford led the way for Chris Collins' bunch, scoring 30 points for the winning team. Ben Brust tallied 21 points in defeat.
Wednesday night's win marks the first time that Northwestern has won at the Kohl Center, as Northwestern last defeated Wisconsin in Madison back in 1996. The Badgers beat the Wildcats by 27 points on January 2, in a game played in Evanston to tip off Big Ten play.
The Wildcats improve to 4-5 in conference play with the win, while the Badgers fall to a disappointing 4-4 mark. Tre Demps and Jershon Cobb each scored 10 points for Northwestern, while redshirt freshman Sanjay Lumpkin pulled in a dozen rebounds.
Both teams next play this Saturday, as Northwestern travels to Minneapolis to take on Richard Pitino's Golden Gophers, while Bo Ryan's bunch plays host to Ohio State. The Buckeyes were also upset victims on Wednesday, losing in overtime to the last-place Penn State Nittany Lions.
