Whatever happened to predictability, the milkman, the paperboy and wholesome yogurt commercials on TV?
Well, OK. I fudged with the lyrics a little bit. But thanks to the fine folks at Dannon, we'll get to catch up with our favorite San Franciscan dads (and uncles) on Super Sunday. Danny Tanner (Bob Saget), Jesse Katsopolis (John Stamos) and Joey Gladstone (Dave Coulier) have been reunited in a commercial for the popular yogurt brand, which is embedded below.
Before we mark out at the Full House reunion before our eyes, something must be acknowledged: So. Many. Questions.
First of all, what happened to Aunt Becky? Was Lori Loughlin just unavailable for filming or was there an un-televised divorce? If so, who got custody of Nicky and Alex? Buzzfeed's Lauren Yapalater tracked them down, and they've (thankfully) long-since ditched the moptop for a more modern haircut.
In that article, we also found out that the actors and their TV dad haven't kept in contact. Are shirtless selfies what happens when the most beautiful couple of 1990s media—television, cinema, music or otherwise—splits up?
And Michelle. We know she (spoiler alert) got over the amnesia in the series finale, but did she go to college? What about Stephanie and D.J.?
Sorry. Got lost in Full House fan-fic there for a second. But for real. There are just some things that cannot be answered in a 30-second Super Bowl ad. There's only one solution here: Full-fledged reboot. I mean, if NBC can do it with Bill Cosby and Disney with Girl Meets World, why can't ABC run it back with these peeps. I'm sure Bob Saget can take a break from fundamentally altering our childhoods with his risque comedy set for at least a season, no?
Until those questions are answered, however, we at least can find solace in what we do know about the Tanner-Katsopolis-Gladstone triad. The teaser ad taught us they're all still living together after all these years, but they've upgraded from the former Tanner Castle to nicer digs.
Not sure what happened to the old house, but I'm happy that at least one of them hit it big.
Maybe Danny is Skip Bayless' nemesis on First Take in the Full House world. Or Jesse has opened a worldwide conglomerate of Smash Clubs, similar to Jay Z's 40/40 outfit. And if Joey's cut-it-out gesture doesn't make him the Louis CK of the San Francisco comedy scene, I do not know what we are doing with our lives.
Anyway, enjoy the ad. Until our dreams of the full-fledged Full House reboot are granted, this will be the next best chance to catch up with these indelible characters.
