The South Florida Bulls pulled the upset win over the Southern Methodist Mustangs 78-71

SMU came in playing great and with tournament aspirations in their future. This was a game that SMU may  have needed to win for their tournament resume. It is a bad loss for them against the 162nd ranked RPI team.

SMU has a big game against Memphis next up. After a game against Temple, they will have a game against the AAC leading Cincinnati Bearcats. They will need to beat one of these two big teams to boost their resume after the lost. Will SMU be able to bounce back and make the tournament?

USF finally snapped their losing streak with a big win for them. After falling behind early, USF found success taking the ball inside. This win could be what a young team needed to get their confidence going in the AAC. They will have another tough opponent in Cincinnati their next game out. Will this be the game that turns around USF's season?

It was a balanced scoring effort for USF that led them to victory. Freshman Chris Perry came in off the bench and dominated SMU inside with 18 points and eight rebounds. Senior Victor Rudd scored 21 and surpassed the 1,000 point mark at USF.

Nic Moore led the Mustangs in scoring with 23. Markus Kennedy had 11 points and eight rebounds, but turned the ball over eight times.

In their previous meeting, SMU won 71-54. It was a different story tonight as USF pulled off the upset 78-71.
