The Pro Bowl is all fun and games until somebody gets hurt. While the play on the field has been much improved from past years, Jairus Byrd of the Buffalo Bills did suffer a back injury in the first quarter of the game.

NFL's Around the League Twitter account confirmed the news and gave a status update on the star safety:

Prior to the announcement being made, Byrd gave an update of his own on the injury on his Twitter account:

The fifth-year safety was a huge part of the Bills' success this season, finishing the year as a top-10 defense. Byrd finished the regular season with 48 total tackles, one sack, a forced fumble and four interceptions.

Though his season didn't always go to plan with the Bills after he missed all of the offseason workouts, minicamps, training camp and full preseason, the team has expressed interest in re-signing the Pro Bowler, according to Joe Buscaglia of WGR 550.

The extent of Byrd's injury has not been announced, but when it is, the story will be updated with any breaking news.
