Late in the first quarter of the 2014 Pro Bowl, Kansas City Chiefs linebacker (Team Rice) Derrick Johnson laid a huge hit on Chiefs teammate (Team Sanders) Jamaal Charles.
It was a play that had the Chiefs and their fans holding their breath, given that Charles exited the team's playoff game with a concussion. The hit to Charles' helmet didn't appear to affect the running back, but now Johnson has bragging rights when the two get back to Kansas City.
Actually, Johnson didn't feel like waiting that long to brag:
Have to give my fellow teammate some friendly fire. LOL! I can't lie, it felt pretty good! #probowl— Derrick Johnson (@superdj56) January 27, 2014
Charles says he wasn't expecting a hit like that to come from Johnson, via ESPN.com:
"I didn't expect it, but he's out there doing his thing," said Charles, who was knocked out of Kansas City's Jan. 4 playoff loss to the Indianapolis Colts with a concussion. "I can't get mad at him -- it's just about football, and you've just got to be ready."
Luckily for everyone involved, nobody got hurt on this play.
