Looking for Sporting Joy? It's Not Always on TV, for Liverpool Fans That Is!
Some of you may have been wondering where I'd disappeared too, others possibly secretly hoped I'd found something better to do, sorry to disappoint you.
Last Friday my electrical sub station went up in smoke, quite literally, like a grenade in a kennel. It was quite a site looking at the remains, wondering how the hell they were going to get my power on?
Silly question really...they weren't!

So as you'd expectย after 5 days with nothing to do and 5 nights of complete darkness, I've been quite keen to write, so here goes.
What do you think your first thought would be if you found out your powerย was cut for a rather extended period?ย
I'm afraid to say, it wasn't, ohย shit I'm going to miss the football, but more like I'm for that last warm shower.
I left behind images of political protests at supposedย sporting events, stories about players demanding more and more money as well asย the usual supporter unrest and entered what was well, a big black hole!
Even after the full effects of what was happening had hit me, I didn't even think about sport on TV.ย What I did do though,ย wasย think about my own empty sporting weekend,ย after my game was called off! Funnily enough due to no electricity!
Am I upset I missed all the weekends action? No not at all. After all, in between the footballing action, I'd also missed having my senses dulled by Chelsea supporters orย axe wieldingย chairmen.
But having said that, I wasย very happy my football club had power when John Arne Riise headed into his own net last night in the 94th minute of a UEFA Champions League semi final!
You see last night was training night!
A whole weekend of serious soul searching andย a bit ofย growing in morale fiber had passed by and the only thing on my mind was Tuesday nights football practice.
Allย my weekends frustrations were lost on that field. I ran my socks off, chasing every ball andย feeling very much alive. One can't describe how much good it did me or how much I enjoyed it.
You just can't compare playing football, to watching it on telly!
Afterwards I watched my first football game in a week with beer in my hand and a seat close to theย TV.
You see, Iย realized that I could have survived without watching it, but then I wouldย have had to have listened to someone else telling me about it, and that just won't do!
Liverpool vs Chelsea was at best dreary and at worst boring! But I didn't care, as I'd had my release and there was only one thing left to say...
Joooooooooooohn Arrrne Riiiiise....Hooooowwwwww did you score that goal?
