15 Sports Videos That Will Get You Ridiculously Amped
While most athletes or fans don't typically need any extra motivation to get hyped for something dealing with sports, a little inspiration never hurt anyone.
That's why I'm giving you some of the best videos I could find that will get you amped up for a big game, season or simple trick, because, while you may not need it, they're just sweet to watch.
You might want to lay off drinking caffeine while watching these—otherwise you might be a bit too energetic.
The 2013 Philadelphia Eagles
With a new head coach in Chip Kelly who promised to bring his high-octane offense to the NFL, the Philadelphia Eagles were hoping that they could rebound from a putrid 2012 season that saw them go just 4-12.
And this hype video may have just helped.
Set to get fans excited about the 2013 season, the Eagles were able to finish 10-6 by winning seven of their last eight games, and hosting a playoff game.
Sadly, it didn't end well for them, as they lost in the Wild Card Game to the New Orleans Saints.
Dare to Be Brazilian
OK, so I'm red, white and blue to my core, but this Nike commercial featuring the host country of this year's World Cup is damn cool.
Daring all viewers to "Be Brazilian," it goes into the minds of different players on the team to show what's going on in there.
It's not drama-filled like some of the other ones on this list, but it's wonderfully shot and makes me wish the tournament kicked off tomorrow.
LSU vs. Alabama
Anytime the LSU Tigers and Alabama Crimson Tide step on the gridiron each season, we're reminded how intense one of the greatest rivalries in the Southeastern Conference has become.
With hard hits and a bevy of NFL talent running around, the two teams treat the game more like a battlefield than a football field.
There's no love lost between these two schools, and this hype video made for Tigers fans before this past season's version shows why.
Talk about self-promotion.
I'm only kidding—sort of.
As one of the most-talked-about and hyped college football players of the past few seasons, former South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney is making the case to become the top pick in this year's NFL draft.
And for anyone who might doubt that the big man is as dominating as everyone claims he is, let Clowney's hype video remind us all that you'd be happy to have him on your favorite team.
Matthias Giraud's Avalanche Jump
While most skiers tend to shy away from avalanches for fear of being swallowed whole by the wave of snow, Matthias Giraud broke all the rules by actually creating his own.
With Giraud weaving his way through snow and doing a flip off of a ledge, he parachutes through the air so not to get toppled.
I won't be doing this anytime soon, but dammit, it does look incredible.
The 2014 Washington Redskins
Hot off the press, the Washington Redskins are proving to their fans that they are under great leadership now that the team has hired Jay Gruden as its next head coach.
Releasing this video just a day ago, the Skins are hoping fans forget about the cloud of drama that the team had over its head in 2013, instead reminding fans of what a proud franchise it really is.
The 2013 season might not even be officially over, but it looks like the team is using everything it can to look to the future while reliving parts of its past.
Pipeline Winter 2013
As someone who has only surfed a handful of times, I know how difficult not only getting up on the board is, but then to actually ride out a wave for more than a few seconds.
Hawaii's "Pipeline" is one of the best destinations for surfers to ride out both breathtaking and dangerous waves, and this video shows just how crazy some of the breakers can be.
2013 Baylor Bears Fiesta Bowl
After watching this video for the first time, I immediately went and downloaded the background song in it, Rudimental's, "Not Giving In," because, well, I think it'll be a good song to push me through those last few miles of a long run.
In this case, it seemed to work for Baylor Bears fans who were looking forward to the rejuvenated football program's first ever BCS bowl game.
The Bears may have fallen short of their goal of winning, but the video to hype them and their fans up didn't lose one bit.
The 2014 World Cup
Just as they did four years ago before World Cup in South Africa, ESPN has begun releasing its series of promo videos to get fans excited about the best tournament in the world.
Regardless of being a soccer fan or not, this most recent version is a great blend of host country Brazil's culture and memorable moments from the past that should get any sports fan to countdown the days until the world's best takes center stage.
This is the reason why soccer is known as "The Beautiful Game."
2013 NHL Playoffs
While I've admitted a few times that I'm not the biggest or most knowledgeable hockey fan—hey, I'm working on it—there's nothing that gets me to watch the game quite like the NHL playoffs.
Though every fan prefers to be close to the the action, this video to promote last year's postseason does just a fine job, blending big hits, wicked goals and epic commentary into one place.
Who wants to go play some hockey now?
The Denver Broncos' Team Thunderstorm
Tabbed as the official skydiving team of the Denver Broncos, Team Thunderstorm proves that being a mile high inside the stadium just isn't daring enough for them.
That's why they fly through the sky and into the stadium before each home game the Broncos play, hyping up the crowd before kickoff.
Thankfully, one of the members was smart enough to wear a GoPro camera on their helmet this past weekend before the AFC title game, giving fans a first-person view of what it's like to fall to earth.
Not sure if any of us are more likely to want to jump from a plane now or not, but it's dope to watch regardless.
Felix Baumgartner's Space Skydive
While I'll never knock people like Team Thunderstorm for jumping out of a plane that's nearly six miles above Earth, I have to say that it pales in comparison to the free-fall that Felix Baumgartner did last year from freakin' outer space!
Traveling at a sound-barrier shattering 800-plus miles per hour, dude dropped in from nearly 128,000 feet, literally traveling through the atmosphere.
This is scary as hell and something about .00001 percent of the world's population would ever even think about attempting, but Baumgartner sure does make it look appealing.
The 2014 Sochi Olympics
At first glance, one might think that this video is a trailer for the next great action-adventure movie that was put together by Jerry Bruckheimer or someone.
But not so fast, as it's actually just one of the sickest ads anyone has ever seen to help promote the drama and adventure of the Winter Olympics in Sochi in a few weeks.
I don't care what country you cheer for or what events you'll be watching, because this video will get you hyped up for something as simple as curling.
General Sports Montage
One of the finest techniques sports producers ever made was mixing intense classical music to video of spectacular plays.
What becomes of the video montage is usually a bone-chilling, drama-filled video that fans can't help but be excited about watching.
This one happens to feature arguably the best song to do it with, Clint Mansell's "Lux Aeterna," best known from the movie Requiem for a Dream.
If this doesn't send chills up your spine, you're not a sports fan.
Seattle Seahawks vs. San Francisco 49ers
Living in Seattle, I just had to put this one on top of my list.
Not only did this video send chills down my spine after watching it in anticipation of the greatest rivalry in the NFL going right now, but the game itself actually lived up to all the pregame hype.
Sprinkle in the postgame rant by Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman, and the everything about this matchup was high intensity.
