Michigan State 71, Indiana 66 - Final Score
With Adreian Payne sidelined for the fourth straight game and No. 3 Michigan State desperately in need of someone to step up and take control, sophomore shooting guard Gary Harris came to life. The Big Ten Player of the Year candidate scored 20 of his game-high 24 points in the second half to lead the Spartans past Indiana, 71-66.
Michigan State also got a stellar second half out of Branden Dawson, who continues to be an enigma for head coach Tom Izzo. Dawson finished with nine rebounds and 13 points.
The Hoosiers were also without one of their top players as Will Sheehey sat out with an injury. Noah Vonleh recorded a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds, but Indiana did not get the ball to him often enough. Vonleh attempted just three shots in the second stanza.
The victory keeps the Spartans atop the Big Ten standings and drops Indiana to 2-4 in league play. Michigan State has won its last 11 games and are off to a 7-0 start in conference action.
