The accolades continue to pile up for top-ranked running back prospect Leonard Fournette. The New Orleans standout and LSU commit can now add the honor of being named 247Sports Composite National Player of the Year to his list, via Kipp Adams of 247Sports.

Fournette is the final No. 1 overall prospect in a 2014 class that has undergone routine changes in rankings throughout the recruiting cycle. This honor is awarded annually to the senior high school player who finishes atop the national list of prospects in 247Sports composite rankings.

247Sports defines its composite ranking system as a process "determined by a proprietary algorithm which equally weighs recruit rankings and ratings from all major recruiting media outlets, including 247Sports."

Fournette starred at St, Augustine High School, rushing for nearly 7,000 career yards. He is also an excellent receiver out of the backfield who forces a defense to always account for his whereabouts on the field.

The 6'1", 226-pound playmaker caught 42 passes for 745 yards in 2013, according to 247Sports. He added six touchdown receptions to 18 rushing scores.

His high-profile recruiting process concluded Jan. 2 at the Under Armour All-American Game. Fournette announced his commitment to LSU late in the event, giving the Tigers a pivotal recruiting victory over rival Alabama.

Potential suitors spanned across the country, including Notre Dame, USC, Texas, Michigan and Florida State. Fournette will arrive in Baton Rouge with immense expectations already in place.

LSU running backs Jeremy Hill and Alfred Blue announced their intentions to forgo another season of college football in order to enter the NFL draft so the opportunity for an immediate impact is apparent. The Tigers' lengthy pursuit of Fournette paid off earlier this month, and Les Miles won't be hesitant to see what his prized prospect can accomplish as a featured running back.
