No, it is not too early to ask yourself this question if you are a fan of college basketball. With the 2008 NBA Draft approaching, many teams are beginning to focus on what players will be leaving and how their vacancies will be filled. Rick Barnes is one coach who should be keeping a close eye on things the next couple of months.
Much attention has been shining upon the Big 12 conference recently. Kansas is fresh off a National Championship and many of their players have declared for the draft. Michael Beasley, arguably the best college player last season, has also declared. Travis Ford has been hired as the new head coach at Oklahoma State. With all of this happening, Texas deserves the spotlight over all of the rest (sorry KU).
Before losing to Memphis in the Sweet 16, many fans believed Texas had a very good shot at winning it all. There chances may be even greater at getting the coveted trophy if one man comes back: DJ Augustin.
If Augustin does indeed come back, Texas will be loaded with talent. Augustin and Abrams would run the backcourt again along with Damion James and Connor Atchley in the frontcourt.
If Augustin leaves, he is projected to be a lottery pick in the upcoming NBA Draft.
If Texas returns these players, you can guarantee to see the Horns atop the USA Today Poll come next season.

If D.J. Augustin is a Longhorn next season, Texas is without a doubt the top-ranked team to begin the season. No doubt.

One thing wrong with this article: Texas lost to Memphis in the Elite 8, not the Sweet Sixteen. Get your facts straight.
