David West Ejected for Elbow to Head of Blake Griffin

Joe FlynnContributor IJanuary 18, 2014

Indiana Pacers forward David West was assessed a flagrant-2 foul and ejected for throwing an elbow at Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin after time had expired in the second quarter.

UPDATE: Sunday, Jan. 19, at 2:45 p.m. ET by Dan Favale:

ESPN's Ian Begley brings word there will be consequences for West after elbowing Griffin in the head:

As far as the cost of flagrant-2 fouls go, this one was pretty expensive.

Was it worth it, David?

---End of update---

The broadcasters agreed that there has been "no love lost" between Griffin and West. Of course, Griffin seems to engender hostile reactions in many opponents, and David West is one tough hombre, so perhaps this was bound to happen.

Whatever the case may be, West might be looking at a suspension (or at the very least a fine) by the end of the weekend.
