Much like bells ringing and angels getting wings, every time you hear "Omaha!" shouted from Peyton Manning's mouth, $500 will find its way to a noble cause, thanks to a renowned call from the line.
Following another Broncos victory and another game complemented by Manning's now iconic barking of "Omaha!" from the line of scrimmage, Omaha Steaks reportedly pondered giving Manning some sort of endorsement deal.
Well, that thought has evolved into something far greater. Here is what Omaha Steaks had to tweet on Thursday:
That links to an Omaha World-Herald report from Michael Kelly, who bears the great news that five Omaha-area companies will team up to donate $500 for every mention of the Nebraska city during the playoff proceedings between the Broncos and Patriots on Sunday.
This idea is reportedly the brainchild of Omaha Steaks' public relations staff. The other companies participating are ConAgra Foods, First National Bank of Omaha, Mutual of Omaha and Union Pacific.
Thanks to these companies, each Omaha means $500 to the PeyBack Foundation—Manning's charitable organization that is dedicated to promoting "the future success of disadvantaged youth by assisting programs that provide leadership and growth opportunities for children at risk."
As for how many Omaha calls we might hear this weekend, that's anybody's guess. Manning is renowned for his loquacious demeanor under center, but his Omaha call is what sent the media into a frenzy this past weekend against the Chargers.
There is always the unlikely scenario that this Sunday's big game is devoid of the now famous call.
However, the New York Daily News (h/t For the Win) has some idea of the amount of money that might find its way to charity: "Manning said 'Omaha' 44 times in last week’s game. The same number against the Patriots would be worth $22,000 to his foundation."

We once offered that Omaha Steaks, in pondering an "Omaha!" deal, wanted to merely place its name comfortably next to the audible for marketing purposes—a cynical view to be sure.
By initiating this amazing push from local companies, Omaha Steaks is making sure that any goodwill that spills over to it goes to a fantastic cause.
Now, thanks to Manning's big mouth and Omaha bark, his PeyBack Foundation could be set for one tremendous Sunday.
