UCSB utilized a big 17-2 second half run to blow past Long Beach State and never look back, as they came away with a big 64-51 home victory to even their Big West conference record at 1-1.

Both teams had their distinctive Achilles heels on the night; UCSB gave up the ball with astounding regularity, especially in the first half, snuffing out many of their own offensive possessions while providing extra opporutinies for Long Beach.

The 49ers capitalized on very few of those opportunities, however, and finished the game shooting a paltry 29.2 percent from the field.

They were able to keep it close in the first half, but as soon as the Gauchos started taking care of the basketball, they were clearly overmatched.

The game turned out to be a fairly comfortable victory for the Gauchos, as they kept their foot on the gas pedal throughout the second half and were powered by clutch threes and athletic dunks the rest of the game to come up with their sizable victory.
