NEW ORLEANS - JANUARY 02: Wide receiver Julio Jones #8 of the Alabama Crimson Tide looks to make a move on Sean Smith #4 of the Utah Utes after making a catch in the second quarter during the 75th Allstate Sugar Bowl at the Louisiana Superdome on January 2, 2009 in New Orleans, Louisiana. It's about that time again—roughly three months from kickoff, and many fans are unsure.

Starting your season off against a good football team such as Virginia Tech could be great, but could also be bad.

Personally, I like to see good match-ups for the first game. I want to know after four quarters of action what kind of team the Crimson Tide will have for the remaining 11 games.

The Tide has a good quarterback. You can say what you want, but McElroy can throw the deep ball better than the past five quarterbacks the Tide has had. If you can do that, the running game comes into the picture. The Tide has a triple threat backfield with Richardson, Ingram, and Upchurch, as well.

Julio Jones, with a year under his belt, is preparing for a breakthrough season. The defense should be fine, with Rolando McClain returning. The offensive line will be the determining factor for the Tide's 2009 season.

If the offensive line can mature quickly, 2009 could be a special season for the Crimson Tide.
