World Sport-ESPN conducted an international survey relating to footballers to decide which current player was the most popular.

The survey was taken around 40 countries through 90 million people.

The results below are regarding the top five most famous players and have been distributed by percentage.

The survey only included votes for current players which meant that the result of Zinedine Zidane who came in second place was declared null and void.

The article may not be plagiarized or republished again after it is done so on Soccernet, WorldSport and Bleacher Report.

1. David Beckham (LA Galaxy/England) 41%

2. Luis Ronaldo (AC Milan/Brazil) 21%

3. Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United/Portugal) 20%

4. Thierry Henry (FC Barcelona/France) 14%

5. Ronaldinho (FC Barcelona/Brazil) 6%

Surprise surprise, no Kaka, Messi, Lampard, Gerrard, Torres, Fabregas or Rooney in the list. David Beckham taking the top spot was not surprising for me.

  1. What was the question asked? You say the most popular player, this does not mean most famous. You can be famous and hated, or not famous and loved. By the looks of it this is just the 5 who appear in the most TV adds. Good to know Ronaldinho is still just a little Ronaldo though.

    1. Who is your favourite player?

  2. Thanks for your comment 'S' and I guess I should be thanking you some 9 times..]
And to correct you...Ronaldo Luis Nazário de Lima is also called Luis Ronaldo.

  3. Really weird that....was not done on purpose.

Yes......there is no Luis Ronaldo.........Ronaldo is never referred to that way..... ever.

    Shitebull or
