January is never the best time to buy. Clubs inflate prices in order to ward off interest in their best players, so determined are they not to lose them midway through a season. More than that, many top targets are cup tied, resulting in few successful transfers during this window.
That doesn't stop the rumour mill from firing on all cylinders, though.
Newspapers and websites get news from agents and "in the know" sources, and before you know it, a transfer saga ensues.
No, that is not the case [that Dzeko could be sold]
I put my trust in him before the season and I have just as much trust in him now.
It is very important for this club to have a good squad because we have a lot of games to play from now until April and, if we want to win trophies, we need important players.
Something tells me that there will be plenty of gossip, though. Here we gather together all the news and conjecture surrounding the future of City's Bosnian striker.
—LAST UPDATE: Wednesday, January 15—
TalkSPORT have reported that Spanish outfit Valencia are keen on signing Dzeko, with incoming billionaire owner Peter Lim set to provide £40 million for new transfers.
Valencia coach Juan Antonio Pizzi is thought to be a known admirer of Dzeko, and would place the Bosnian high on his list of priorities if a big transfer kitty was made available to him.
Lim told AS (via talkSPORT):
"I hope my offer [to take control of Valencia] is accepted. I have €50 million available to spend this month."
