Attitude Reflects Leadership: Battle of Trey vs. Joe

The picture says it all. Joe Maddon is the man behind his team.
As a Kansas City-ian, I've been a fan of Tampa Bay since J.P. Howell was traded to them.
I witnessed the transformation of the Rays into the team they are now. It was a transformation that Royals' fans keep trying to believe can happen within their own team.
They have young talent; we have young talent.
Yet, it seems talent goes to Tampa to flourish and Kansas City to, dare I say it, die.
Joe Maddon is known for his unconventional managerial approach. Many times last year, Maddon gave his young team motivational speeches in an attempt to get them to play at the next level.
In contrast, we're all aware of Hillman's approach in regard to his team. Remember spring training last season?
Hillman gathered the team around home plate, in front of fans and reporters, and proceeded to publicly criticize their performance.
Has anyone ever seen Trey Hillman give one of his players a fist bump?
Absolutely not. He is usually seen sitting in the corner, arms crossed, frequently caressing his own mustache.
My intent was not to bash Trey, but to applaud Joe. This photo had a great impact on me and it seems intent has gone out the window.
Something to think on while watching tonight's game. I believe we will see the Rays really play for the win tonight. From the first pitch, they are going to be fighting for the sweep.
I predict a lot of Royals' fans are going to be yelling at their televisions tonight. We will grow frustrated as we see a lack of hustle, as the ball rolls past one player to the next.
Attitude reflects leadership. Can't we ever get a pound?
